Red Wing Irish Setter for Men

In 1952, the Red Wing Shoe Company introduced a shoe that has since become synonymous with Red Wing. The 8-inch Model 877 was crafted from russet leather, tanned with the juice of sequoia bark. This produced a rich color very similar to the coat of an Irish Setter hunting dog. The 877 featured a crescent-stitched "Moc Toe" and a white crepe rubber wedge sole. This sole had been used on shoes before, but the 877 was the first tall boot to feature it. Due to its advantages, the comfortable shoe quickly found favor on construction sites and was soon seen in factories and on the scaffolding of a growing America. The No. 877 has hardly changed from its origins and remains essentially the same shoe that was ceremoniously presented to President Eisenhower in 1960. Today, it is the legendary Red Wing boot.
