      General Care Tips

      • Treat the leather regularly to prevent it from drying out. The frequency depends on how often the shoes are worn. Normally, treatment once a quarter is recommended.
      • Use leather conditioner sparingly; the leather should not be saturated. Do not forget the seams and the shoe frame.
      • Allow wet shoes to dry at normal temperature. Please do not place them on the heater, as this will dry out the leather.
      • The outsoles should be replaced before wear reaches the midsole.
      • Remove dark stains on the white outsole with an eraser.

      Treating Oil-Tanned Leather

This leather is extremely durable and has been used for over 100 years in the manufacture of Red Wing Boots.

      1. Cleaning

Wipe away loose dirt with a clean, dry cloth. Remove stubborn dirt with warm water and a soft-bristled brush. For heavily soiled areas, use Red Wing Leather Cleaner and allow the leather to dry.

      2. Conditioning

Proper conditioning protects the appearance and extends the life of the shoe. Red Wing's Boot Oil, Mink Oil, and Leather Conditioner restore the original look and feel of the leather. Apply these conditioners with your fingers, a soft cloth, or a sponge. Information on the appropriate care product can be found in the description of each shoe.

      3. Protection

The use of Red Wing Shoe Leather Protector provides extra protection and thus extends the life of the shoe. This product creates an invisible protective shield against water, dirt, oil, and mud. Simply apply a thin layer of the protector after cleaning and conditioning.
